Loop quantum gravity 01

A lecture from the CERN website by Carlo Rovelli (who initially introduced the theory of loop quantum gravity in 1988). Date- 21.08.2008. Source- cdsweb.cern.ch slides- indico.cern.ch From wiki- ‘Loop quantum gravity (LQG), also known as loop gravity and quantum geometry, is a proposed quantum theory of spacetime which attempts to reconcile the theories of quantum mechanics and general relativity. It preserves many of the important features of general relativity, while at the same time employing quantization of both space and time at the Planck scale in the tradition of quantum mechanics. The technique of loop quantization was developed for the nonperturbative quantization of diffeomorphism-invariant gauge theory. Roughly, LQG tries to establish a quantum theory of gravity in which the very space, where all other physical phenomena occurs, becomes quantized.’

I love all this stuff

How can anyone set throught this guys lecture. “discribe the uhh elementry uhh uhh degrees uhh of free-uhh-dom of a quantum uhh field uhh uhh theory when there is no uhh uhh background uhh uhh uhh space-time. ” Don’t get me wrong, I love learning about quantum gravity. But how can anyone learn from this guy I don’t know.

set the whole thing wobbling on a five brane and project it out for a phd in string theory

Much better than string theory imao.

kristiankroflin September 2, 2009 at 7:12 am

what string theorists do is to take different degrees of the scale dimension and to call
them different dimensions. they do the same
thing as it was done in chemistry with the widely known periodic table where all the elements (and more: all “chemical” structures + downwards with the particles and subparticles… of an atom) seem to be on the same degree and not like the intuitive spiral Mr. Bernard Hinsdale produced and patented.

He sounds like Latka, “Thank You Very Much”. lmao

Nice Video!
But could it be that Time has symmetry and geometry? Newton believed Time was a thing in itself and connected to motion and Einstein believed there was something missing from quantum mechanics. In my video The Paradox of Schrodingers Cat an artist view it is Time that is the Hidden Variable.

nice video though if he could only speak a bit more fluid would be better

So if a pressure gradient is created from 3 sound waves in a cube, would an ‘electric gradient’ be created in a sphere?

What would be the best material to make the sphere out of so it resonated the best?
